Objectives

The raison d’être for the LHC is the search for the Higgs boson. The individual teams are providing precise predictions for all dominant production modes, i.e. the gluon fusion process, vector-boson fusion in association with jets as well as Higgs-strahlung, which may become accessible through analyses of the boosted final states. Likewise, Higgs decays are being studied. The teams are undertaking every effort to improve the current perturbative predictions for the Higgs boson so that the production rates for this important discovery channel are known to the best possible accuracy.
